Gyeonggi Province has won grand prizes in the two categories of “Most Business-friendly city”, and “Most Internationalized city” in the 2007 local government management evaluation, which was co-hosted by the Korea Journalist Forum and Korea Newspaper Broadcasting Research.

This assessment was made comprehensively on the core business of 2007, led by metropolitan and local governments. Awards were decided by the paper contest of professional judges, including university professors and journalists, and a survey performed by research institutes.

On Oct.10, Won You-chul, Lieutenant Governor for Political Affairs, will receive the awards on behalf of the governor, before an audience of approximately 300 participants at the international conference hall of the Korea Press Center, located in Taepyeongno, Jung-Gu, Seoul.

This event is aimed at promoting the development of local government. It enables local governments to stand out based their own specialties, facilitating the brand value of each region through comprehensive and specific evaluations. Since 2005, the Korea Journalist Forum and Korea Newspaper Broadcasting Research have co-hosted this annual event, to contribute to promoting democracy and national competitiveness.
