From August 25 to August 29, a delegation from Gyeonggi Province will be visiting Liaoning, China. This visit aims to facilitate youth sports exchanges between the province, Liaoning (China) and Kanakawa (Japan), sister regions of Gyeonggi Province.
Exchanges among the three regions started with a soccer match for youth players aged 16 or younger, which was held in Gyeonggi Province, in accordance with the Agreement of the 4th Talks for Exchanges between Korea, China, and Japan concluded in 2004. Since then, various sports events between the three nations have been hosted every August.
In 2008, Liaoning will host a youth soccer match and a youth basketball match, and the leading players from each region aged 18 or younger will participate in the matches. Representing Gyeonggi Province in the matches will be Bucheon Jeongmyeong High School Soccer Team and Suwon Jeil Middle School Women’s Basketball Team, who were selected for that role at the National Athletic Meeting.
The matches will be league matches, and each Gyeonggi Province team will have 2 matches, totaling 4 matches for the Province. The Soccer Team will have matches at the soccer field of Liaoning University, and the Basketball Team will have matches at the baseball court of a high school in Shenyang, China.
A variety of additional activities for the youth team players are scheduled, including visits to a high school, Expo Garden, and a museum. The teams will visit a high school located in Shenyang, take the tour of school facilities and meet students at the school.
