The Public Relations Task Force Team at Pyeongtaek Port in Gyeonggi Province (Team Head, Ahn Yang-ho, Vice Governor of Administration) has been contributing to the promotion of Pyeongtaek Port by increasing the amount of distribution through MOUs with Chinese distribution companies through successful presentations on Pyeongtaek Port in the Xiamen region of China.
The Team, led by the Vice Governor of Administration Ahn Yang-ho, made a presentation session and held an informal discussion session with Korean entrepreneurs in Xiamen from September 9 to 10 at the Xiamen Hotel in Xiamen, China. They lauded the efforts of the Korean entrepreneurs and made presentations that discussed the advantages of Pyeongtaek Port as well as relevant development plans and the investment environment for facilities. They also provided consultation for participating businesses in order to attract investment from these distribution companies in China.
The first MOU to be completed was finalized between the city of Xiamen and Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Corporation; it resolved to increase the number of exchanges between the two parties. A second MOU was ratified between container operators of the Pyeongtaek Container Terminal (PCTC) and ITG Group of Xiamen Port, and a third MOU was concluded between Xiamen Ziodang Limited Company and SITC Korea to increase the amount of distribution at Pyeongtaek Port.
The MOUs entered on the day of the presentation are expected to attract 1,650 TEU per year, and Pyeongtaek Port can expect continuous growth in its distribution amounts thanks to continuous growth in business with China including the distribution of Xiamen Port, which is the 7th largest port in China.
Following the presentation, there was an informal discussion session with the Mayor of Xiamen City. Measures for mutual cooperation to rapidly increase the amount of distribution between Korea and China and ideas for mutual development were discussed.
Vice Governor Ahn said, “This Port Sales effort in China has contributed to the formation of MOUs between Pyeongtaek Port shipping companies, Chinese shippers and distribution companies, and resulted in new business opportunities through investment consultation as well as the creation of new distribution and the early establishment of an additional sea route. As this activity took advantage of the largest investment EXPO period, the recognition of Pyeongtaek Port was improved among foreign investors, and we were able to attract investment to facilities and promote the port among the many attendees at the EXPO.”
