– Gyeonggi Province Concludes Agreement with Korea Sailing Federation, Gyeonggi Yachting Association, and Sail New Zealand
To promote the successful hosting of the World Racing Tour Korea Match Cup 2009, Gyeonggi Province concluded an agreement on November 28 with the Korea Sailing Federation, the Gyeonggi Yachting Association, and Sail New Zealand International in the Briefing Room of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex in Suwon.
The signing ceremony was attended by Gyeonggi Governor Kim Moon-soo, Executive Director Lee Pil-seong of the Korea Sailing Federation, Executive Director Kim Tae-Jeong of the Gyeonggi Yachting Association, and Representative Kim Dong-yeong of Sail New Zealand International.
The agreement aims to build cooperation between the three organizations for the successful hosting of the World Racing Tour Korea Match Cup 2009. According to the agreement, Gyeonggi Province, the Gyeonggi Yachting Association, and Sail New Zealand International will jointly host the match, and an organizational committee and secretarial office will be established and operated. The match will see the participation of 12 teams including the world’s top nine. The Korea Sailing Federation approved the hosting of Korea Match Cup 2009 and pledged to support Gyeonggi Province in the development of its yachting industry. The agreement also specified how the Gyeonggi Yachting Association will organize the event, operate the match, and coordinate affairs related to the Korea Sailing Federation.
The conclusion of the agreement is expected to stimulate the preparation process, including approval for the match, the organization of the office, and the establishment of detailed plans for the event.
The World Racing Tour Korea Match Cup 2009 will be held at Jeongok Port of Hwaseong City and Tando Port of Ansan City between June 3 and June 7, 2009, Gyeonggi Province will use the official slogan, “Marine Culture, See! Do! Feel!” and will also use the contest-selected slogan “Sail to the World, Sail to the Future,” as a sub-slogan for brochures and PR materials.
Gyeonggi Province aims to attract 250 exhibitors and 400 thousand visitors, and to achieve USD 100 million of actual purchase contracts during the event, which will see its 2nd anniversary in 2009. The province will promote the marine leisure industry and its enormous growth potential to be a new growth engine based on the successful hosting of the Korea Boat Show and Korea Match Cup.
