Secretary Wangmin of Liaoning Province visited Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Moon–Soo and engaged in discussion to further solidify inter-regional relations.

According to Gyeonggi Province, Secretary Wangmin entered Korea on April 25th and visited Gyeonggi Province, which has a solid sister-province relationship with Liaoning, in the midst of a busy schedule that included the ratification of agreements, inspection tours of large enterprises, and the opening of Liaoning investment seminar.

Secretary Wang previously visited Japan from 19th to 24th to attract investment.

Since the establishment of Gyeonggi-Liaoning sisterhood relations in 1993, the two provinces have maintained active interchange including visits by representative groups of both regions, reciprocal dispatches of civil servants every other year, and exchanges of language trainees.

Furthermore, the three regions of Gyeonggi Province (Korea), Liaoning Province (China) and Kanagawa Prefecture (Japan) have created a common agenda since 1996 and engage in regular conferences. The 8th such tri-regional conference will be held in Gyeonggi Province this year in October.

Secretary Wangmin is a highly educated official who majored in mechanical engineering at the Nanjing Air Institution and obtained a Ph.D. He was appointed Party Secretary of Liaoning last November and is regarded as a critical figure in the northeast revitalization plan.
