One Flight a Week between Singapore and Jakarta Upsurge in Container Shipments Expected  

Container shipments of Pyeongtaek Port expected to increase. 

Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Corporation (President Seo Jeong-Ho) held the launching ceremony of the Pyeongtaek Port-Southeast Asia Line on the 7th berth of the Pyeongtaek Container Terminal (PCTC) on August 13th with the participation of government officials and sailors. 

Hanjin Sao Paulo, the 16,427-ton container ship that came along side the berth that day, will ply between Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, and Pyeongtaek once a week (on Fridays). 

In his personal greeting, Pyeongtaek Regional Maritime Affairs & Port Office Head Ha Pan-Do said, “The launching of the Southeast Asia Line will pave the way for the expansion of trade with ASEAN markets.” 

Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Corporation President Seo Jeong-Ho, stated, “The new shipping route is expected to boost the quantity of containers conveyed in Pyeongtaek Port, which has recently seen a rise in container shipment traffic.” 

Jeon Yong-il, representative of PCTC, the port operation company, mentioned, “Our company will provide a full range of diverse services to minimize elements of inconvenience in port usage.” 

Meanwhile, a total of four ships – three vessels of Hanjin Marine Transportation and one of Heunga Maritime Transportation – will be put on the new line, which will increase container ship capacity by 10,000 TEU per year.
