Gyeonggi Province will hold an indigenous cooking contest and is now receiving applications.

Gyeonggi Province will hold the “National Cooking Contest for Discovering Gyeonggi Province’s Representative Foods” as a part of the 2010 Gyeonggi Food Festival which will take place at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) from December 3 to 5, 2010, and has been accepting applications since October 25th.

The contest will consist of two sections: a student section and an adult section. A total of 16 cooks will be awarded prizes; one grand prize with a prize purse of KRW 3 million will be awarded per section.

Application forms will be accepted from October 25 to November 12, and 36 cooks (18 cooks per section) who pass the primary screening will qualify to advance to the finals at KINTEX where the 2010 Gyeonggi Food Festival will take place.

College students and adults over the age of 20 who are interested in cooking can apply to participate. The application form can be downloaded from www.foodfestival.co.kr.

The cooking contest and a symposium will be held during this inaugural festival. At the festival, a variety of distinctive foods from the 31 cities and counties of Gyeonggi Province will be displayed; they will be classified by themes such as health food, multicultural food, camping food, traditional liquors and so on. In addition, various events will be held during the festival.
