Gyeonggi Province Plays Role in Safety of G20 Summit



The Gyeonggi Provincial Government confirms the safety of major facilities such as the Paldang Dam in preparation for the G20Summit and installs a joint government-military-police situation room.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government ensures the security of the G20 Summit.

On November 4th and 8th, the Provincial Defense Committee held conferences under the chairmanship of Vice-Governor Choi Hong-Cheol and confirmed the safety of Paldang Lake and other major Korean facilities in preparation for the G20 Summit. Starting with Gyeonggi Fire Defense Headquarters Director Byeon Sang-Ho, heads of provincial organizations confirmed the safety of major facilities in the province on November 10th.

Of particular note, the provincial government installed a joint government-military-police situation room to be operated around the clock during G20 Summit (November 12 to 24, 2010); this room unifies emergency systems and enables rapid response to crises during the sSummit. The joint situation room receives emergency-related information in real time and shares information with relevant defense agencies.

The Province Fire Defense Headquarters has mobilized 5,558 firefighters, 11,321 volunteers, and 78 enlisted firefighters along with 1,303 fire trucks, 2 helicopters and 2 boats in preparation for a successful summit.


 
Vice-Governor Choi Hong-Cheol, who confirmed the safety of major facilities in the province, said, “What is most important is to fully pre-empt sabotage by North Korea and antinational forces.” In addition, he asked that related personnel do their best to ensure the success of the G20 Summit.
