The seven companies that joined the licensing show — Character Korea, Design Seol, Mew, Wings Design, Jumping Clay, Asian Bridge, and Seon Pictures — also participated in the contents production support program sponsored by the Gyeonggi Digital Contents Agency.

Among them, Design Seol developed the character ‘Ttung’ and accomplished USD 4.56 million (KRW 5 billion) in exports, and Asian Bridge achieved USD 3.10 million in exports by selling broadcasting rights for Korean Wave programs.

Hong Kong International Licensing Show 2011, an international licensing event marking its second year this year in which licensing companies and buyers dealing in characters and entertainment items participate, is not as large as MIPCOM, the world’s largest entertainment content market, but specializes in the B2B market where practical talks for exports and contracts take place. The Gyeonggi contents companies joined competitions in the overseas licensing market of the show this year.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government undertook consultation meetings for export promotion, support for publicity material production, and assistance for participation in international content markets, realizing USD 26.33 million in exports in 2010. Now that Gyeonggi contents companies have proven their international competitiveness through the show, the provincial government will expand its support for the overseas marketing activities of contents companies.
