The Gyeonggi-do Cyber Library operated by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government has launched a mobile-web service (m.library.kr) that enables the users to read e-books on their smartphones.

This new library service allows the customers to borrow e-books via their smartphones without visiting the library or using personal computers.

Although the Gyeonggi-do Cyber Library introduced a free e-book service in 2004 and more than 4 million people visited the library homepage last year, the e-book service has not been available on smartphones.

In order to overcome this limitation, the Gyeonggi Cyber Library has built a mobile web environment and optimized the size of e-books for smartphone screens.

To access this service, you can obtain a free online membership through the library homepage (www.library.kr) and download Mobi-Book, an e-book viewer that enables you to borrow e-books from the online library and read them on your smartphone.

The mobile e-book service can be accessed only by iPhone at present. But the service boundary will also cover Android-based smartphones and tablet mobile PCs from this April.
