The Mulhyanggi Arboretum (Director Jo Cheol-hui) will host the “Korean Flora through Miniature Paintings” exhibition from March 8 to 27 at the exhibition hall at the Mulhyanggi Arboretum in Sucheong-dong, Osan City.
The exhibition will feature thirty miniature paintings of indigenous Korean plants, including Bungnorangsangsahwa (Lycoris flavescens), Seomsaeu Orchid (Calanthe coreana), Goryeo Eonggeongkwi (Cirsium setidens), Byeonsanbaramkkot (Eranthis byunsanensis), Nungaessukbujaenggi (Aster hayatae), Korean Privet (Ligustrum foliosum), Horabibaramkkot (Anemone koraiensis), and other rare flora that are found uniquely on the Korean peninsula.
As these plants can only be found in Korea, they hold immense academic value and must be preserved as valuable resources.
A representative of the arboretum said, “Painting a miniature requires great technical skill and close attention to detail. The result has to be realistic to the point of photography. This exhibition offers a good opportunity for the public to enjoy good quality artwork.”
The arboretum is open every day from nine in the morning to six in the afternoon, except Mondays. There is no entrance fee.
