Dongducheon City, to Create ‘Automobile Theme Park’

According to Yonhap News,
Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province said on March 8th that it has bid for an automobile theme park which includes motor racecourses.
A private company proposed last April that it would form a consortium to build an automobile theme park nearby the former American army base. The company is currently striving to attract investment.
According to the proposal, the theme park will be completed by 2015 on the area of 900,000 m2 in Anheung-dong with the private capital of KRW 200 billion.
The park will have motor racecourses including ‘drag track,’ which is a straight racetrack, and ancillary facilities such as hangar, bleacher, tuning center, and clubhouse.
The City included the automobile theme park in the general plan for the returned American troop base and nearby area, because it believes that the park will contribute to boosting the regional economy by attracting tourists. The plan will be confirmed late May.
Also, Dongducheon will support the construction of infrastructure including access roads along with administrative support, when a consortium is formed.
