Gyeonggi Province Strengthens Ties with KOTRA
Location and Conditions of Gyeonggi Province Presentation with KOTRA Investors April 6th
Gyeonggi Province invited twenty officials of Invest Korea, KOTRA’s only department dedicated to foreign direct investment, to the Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Corporation (Marine Center) for a presentation on Gyeonggi Province and its advantages as an industrial location for foreign investors.
The presentation covered the local government’s business-friendly policies and offered an explanation of why it is ideal for developing industries. Gyeonggi Province has designated a complex designed exclusively for foreign investors and introduced new policies for supporting business management. It went on to encourage KOTRA to cooperate in attracting foreign capital.
Kim Yong-yeon, an Investment Auditor of Gyeonggi Province, emphasized in his welcoming address that, “The government’s policies for balanced growth throughout the nation have diminished overall interest in the greater Seoul area, but Gyeonggi Province remains an attractive location for foreign investors.” He also requested support and cooperation from KOTRA, Korea’s most prominent investment solicitor.
Park Yeong-ha, head of Invest KOTRA (IK), had also prepared a presentation on the subject of “IK-Gyeonggi Province’s Strategy for Attracting Investment.” He argued that “Gyeonggi Province and IK have worked together on major public investments over the years, but it is time we took it to another level by dispatching officials together to attract foreign investment and by promoting overseas investor relations.”He also introduced IK’s new investment relations programs and policies, which can be utilized for the good of the local government.
All those who participated in the presentation visited the foreign-exclusive complex located in Oseong and discussed ways of soliciting foreign investment.
A Gyeonggi Province official said, “I hope this presentation will rejuvenate the cooperative ties between the two parties and promote the complex we have dedicated to foreign investors.”
