How to Prepare for an Earthquake
– G-Global Aviation in Ansan to provide earthquake drills for 24,000 participants –
As the entire nation was shocked by the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck eastern Japan, G-Global Aviation in Ansan has prepared a program in which participants can experience a magnitude 7.0 earthquake and learn how to react.
Gyeonggi Province announced it will run an earthquake education program and other safety-related events at this year’s G-Global Aviation at Sadong in Ansan City from May 5 to 10.
¡à Richter 7.0 earthquake experience, air shows, and attractions galore
Two earthquake simulation centers have been prepared for this program in the form of two 10§³ wooden homes. Each “home” can hold up to fifteen children (or seven adults), with a single simulation lasting up to ten minutes. Four thousand people can experience the horrors of a real earthquake each day, for a combined total of 24,000 people during the entire event.
When the simulation starts, a guide will yell “Earthquake!” and all the participants will be asked to shout out warnings to each other, crouch down and take shelter under a table. When the motor and beam installed under the model house are activated, the floor will tremble, simulating the effects of a real earthquake. The magnitude can be modified from 3.0 to 7.0 on the Richter scale depending on the group’s age and physical condition.
In accordance with the aviation exhibition’s main attraction, firefighting helicopters and trucks will be on display, offering visitors a closer look. The fire safety experience center will also provide a range of fun activities, such as spraying a water cannon, to raise public awareness of the importance of fire safety and teach the emergency skills required to react in a disaster.
G-Global Aviation in Ansan will also present the ROK Air Force’s Black Eagles, back for the first time in three years, along with other shows featuring the best pilots in the world; 330 aircraft will be on display, and the band Chang Kiha and the Faces will perform in concert. All in all, the air show guarantees visitors a great time.
