Gyeonggi Province and Ansan City have selected the winners of the G-Global Aviation in Ansan Video Contest. The lucky contestants will be announced on the Aviation Exhibition’s official homepage at www.skyexpo.or.kr.

Participants in the contest had the opportunity to document their personal aviation narratives on video and submit their work during the registration period (March 21 to April 15). A little over forty teams participated in the event, with the Grand Prize going to Dangye Elementary School teacher Ahn Dong-hyeok for his entry “Dream,” which presents the sky from a child’s point of view. Ahn’s video club members took part in his work, making the entry truly special and entertaining. The winner remarked, “This was my first project with the students. We all had a great time making the video together.”

The runner up was Seo Yeong-ju, who put together her sketches of various airplanes in an animated clip titled “G-Global Aviation in Ansan where Dreams and Hopes Fly.” The Idea Award was given to Yu Sun-seok’s “My Childhood Dream” for its unique and colorful approach, and to four other talented teams.

The winner of the Grand Prize will receive two return tickets to Bali Indonesia, while the runner-up will receive gift certificates worth KRW 300,000 and the winners of the Idea Award will receive tickets to the World DJ Festival. The winners of the Family Award will be given four tickets each for G-Global Aviation in Ansan and priority tickets for the plane ride program. All of the award winners will receive a certificate from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province.

Despite the short registration period, the judging committee received a large number of impressive works, which is why all entries will be available to the public on the Air Show’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/gairshow.

However, that is not all there is to the video contents of the aviation exhibition. The show’s theme music video, Fly, by acoustic indie band Standing Eggs, has become popular on the Internet. It was filmed on an airstrip in Ansan City where the aviation exhibition will take place. The imagery combines the warm and soothing spring atmosphere with the boundless blue sky.

The video ranked first on Gom TV’s real-time music video chart. Hits reached 134,000 on Gom TV in two weeks, and 20,000 on YouTube in one week.

A local government official said, “We are trying out different outlets to promote the aviation exhibition. The video contest and music video were part of our new experiment. I am astonished by the reaction we have received so far. There will be more SNS promotions through Twitter, so hopefully more people will visit our special annual event.”

This year will mark the G-Global Aviation in Ansan’s third anniversary. It is an air show of international scale and the largest in Korea, and features a variety of interesting programs. The event will take place for six days between May 5th and 10th in Ansan City.
