Gyeonggi Province invited potential buyers from the US, China, Brazil and other countries to help promote exports by Gyeonggi-based enterprises.

Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Center hosted the G-TRADE GBC Export Consultation Event at the Ramada Plaza on July 6th, providing 412 individual overseas export consultations and generating contracts worth USD 68 million.

As part of its targeted marketing initiatives to increase overseas export success rates, the Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Center (GSBC) invited seventy-one overseas companies with interest in Gyeonggi-based enterprises for the event through its overseas branches.

On the day of the event, seventy-one buyers – primarily from China, Brazil, Malaysia, Singapore, and other emerging markets – came to view electronic, IT, household, apparel and fashion products manufactured by 240 Gyeonggi enterprises.

Among the notable buyers at the event were Platinum Paradise, a Malaysian company that generates USD 40 million per year through the distribution of products to theme parks, and Singapore’s WT Vision Produce Pte. Ltd., which delivers goods to the major supermarket chain Giant.

Atul Engineer’s Gautam Sharma from India remarked, “Korean products are very popular because of their competitive pricing and superior quality compared to Japanese and Chinese products. I am certain I will come across some excellent products at this consultation event.”

Yaseen Hasan from the UAE advised, “All the products I’ve seen so far are very good in terms of quality, although I would suggest presenting one truly excellent product rather than an array of merchandise.”

Insan Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of functional masks, multi-purpose medical supplies, and bidets, signed a contract with PSA Marketing of Malaysia worth USD 1.4 million per year at this event.

Kim Gyeong-Cheol of Hana Co., Ltd., a small construction equipment manufacturing company, said, “Overseas buyers come here with a good impression of Korea because of all the favorable media coverage. This is helping our business a great deal. I have a feeling I will meet the right buyer for us today.”

During the event, branch chiefs of GBC Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, and Mumbai hosted an “Emerging Market Venture Strategy” seminar, introducing new export routes and strategies for small businesses.

In addition, GSBC is supporting provincial enterprises by researching the local market and searching for new deals, as well as by acting as an agent and running local trade stimulation boards. The office introduced 1,127 new export routes last year alone. GSBC has six branches around the world in major cities including Mumbai, Moscow and Sao Paulo. A new office is due to open in Shenyang, China.
