The DMZ International Documentary Film Festival (DMZ DOCS 2011) announced on the 9th of August that a free pass to all three events taking place around Paju would be made available under the name of the Gyeonggi Paju Culture Free Pass.
The Gyeonggi Paju Culture Pass guarantees entry into all three cultural events taking place in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, including the DMZ Korean International Documentary Festival, the Paju Book Sori 2011 at Paju Publication City, and the Pan Festival due in Heyri Art Valley.
Jo Jea-hyun of the DMZ Korean International Documentary Festival campaign manager remarked: “Documentary films, publications, and art are related contents that can generate a synergy effect. I think the fact that such a pass is being made available is good news for all of us. I hope that the Gyeonggi Paju Culture Pass develops into Korea’s representative multi-cultural product and promotes Gyeonggi Province’s tourist capabilities.”
A representative of the Paju Book Sori said: “Paju has become one of Korea’s main centers of art and culture. The new pass has been developed under the slogan ‘New encounters in autumn.’ I hope this gives book and art lovers a chance to indulge their passion at a bargain price. It will provide great entertainment for fans. We also hope it will give the related festivals an opportunity to exchange information and come up with more ideas in the future.”
The integrated cultural pass will promote the DMZ Korean International Documentary Festival along with other cultural events that are taking place in Gyeonggi Province. Hopes are riding high that more people will come and enjoy the special events taking place during the cool autumnal season.
The local government is hoping that the festivals attract many book, film and art lovers and at the same time promote a healthy cultural environment for those in their teens.
People who purchase the Gyeonggi Paju Culture Pass will be given an opportunity to watch three movies at the DMZ Korean International Documentary Festival (not including the opening films). The Paju Book Sori 2011, to be held from October 1~9, will present rare books, drawings, and handwritten documents of Nobel Prize winners from the last 110 years. The pass will also grant entry to the Nobel Prize 110th Anniversary Special Exhibition.
The Pan Festival at Heyri Art Valley is held during the same period. Visitors can access Korea’s only theme museum, the Museum of Modern History of Korea, which sheds light on the lives of Koreans during the past century, as well as browse the art installations, crafts, sculptures, and photographs on show in thirteen galleries at the United Gallery Exhibition.
Tickets are available from the BC Card website at http://loung.bccard.com or www.interpark.co.kr from mid August.
The Gyeonggi Paju Culture Pass is sure to pack an extra bang for festival goers this year thanks to its variety. The DMZ Korean International Documentary Festival, which celebrates its third year in 2011, will feature a wide selection of one hundred films from forty countries worldwide, on a scale that will not go unnoticed in the film industry.
The film festival will also run public-friendly programs and interesting events in conjunction to satisfy not only hardcore documentary film fans but also ordinary movie goers. Whichever group you belong to, the film festival has something new and exciting for everyone.
The 3rd DMZ Korean International Documentary Festival will be held at Ichae CINUS and Paju Book City in Gyeonggi Province.
