Gyeonggi Province Government – Osan –SM Entertainment signed an MOU on August 23rd
Three studios to become part of an international entertainment academy
– Gyeonggi Province, Osan, and SM Entertainment signed the “SM Studio and Entertainment International Academy” MOU on August the 23rd at the provincial government complex. ( G News Plus)
Tong Vfang Xien Qi and Girl’s Generation’s record label, SM Entertainment, will build a major K-pop Star Factory in Osan City of Gyeonggi Province.
According to Gyeonggi Province’s announcement, SM Entertainment Co,, Ltd. signed an MOU to build SM Studios and International Entertainment Academy on August 23rd at the provincial government.
The parties agreed to continue promoting the K-pop sensation that is sweeping across Japan, China, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
In his introductory speech, Governor Kim Moon-soo said, “I am glad that SM Entertainment, a company that contributed so much to showing the world how talented our people are, has decided to start an academy in Osan City. We will do everything in our power to support them.”
Kwak Sang-wook, the Mayor of Osan City, said, “Osan has been selected as an innovative city. We have been putting more emphasis on improving education. The International Academy is great news for the 190 thousand residents of Osan. We hope this will be a chance for us to develop.”
Lee Soo-man, CEO of SM Entertainment, said, “For a culture to thrive, it must be supported by a good education system. Our future depends on how we educate our youth. In this age of fading borders, it is time to educate talented individuals from all over the world. Osan City and Gyeonggi Province made a terrific offer. I will do my best.”
According to the agreement, three SM Studios will be built on five lots (total area of 185,025 square meter) at San 19-116, Yangsan-dong, Osan, to train the next pop-star sensations. The studios will be ready by the end of the year.
The provincial government and Osan remarked, “We will provide the administrative support that SM Studio and International Entertainment Studio needs. SM Entertainment will build the studio and academy, run the facilities, and develop new contents.”
A government official added that “K-pop is spreading like wildfire all over the world. This is a chance for our district to become the center of K-pop by attracting more stars. We will attract K-pop-related content developers to create more jobs for local residents.”
