Foreign students of the Ajou University International Graduate School will work as Gyeonggi Province tour guides.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization signed the ‘Foreign College Student Internship Program’ MOU with Ajou University on January 17, and will conduct the Foreign College Student Internship Program for three weeks from February 6th for foreign exchange students of Ajou University.
Six students from various countries including China, Honduras, and Ethiopia will be participating in the internship program. They will provide family tour interpretation for tourists, translate and review the Gyeonggi Province tour guidebook, assist with the management of the tourism portal website, and translate documents related to the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) project.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization explained: “This internship program is beneficial for both parties since the participating students can receive essential credits during vacation and gain experience in the province’s public enterprise activities, while our organization will receive foreigners’ opinions on Gyeonggi tourism.”
Gyeonggi Tourism Organization CEO Hwang Jun-gi said, “This internship is an excellent example of industry-academy collaboration. I believe the organization and academia can grow together wisely.” He proceeded, “We’ll further expand opportunities for foreign college students to use their various skills in the Gyeonggi Province tourism field.”
In return, the interns will receive academic credits and small activity payments.
