Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Federation of Economic Organizations will hold a briefing session on how to advance into the US market to help local companies prepare for and take advantage of the Korea-US FTA.

The session is organized by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, the Gyeonggi Federation of Economic Organizations, the Pyeongtaek Customs Office and the Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Center to help local companies take advantage of the treaty and enhance their capacities regarding origin of country.

Kim Hyeong-ju, an expert on international trade at the LG Economic Research Institute, has been invited to help local companies advance into the US markets by taking advantage of the FTA. The Pyeongtaek Customs Office will explain practical ways of utilizing the treaty.

In tandem with its operation of the Gyeonggi FTA Utilization Support Center with support from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance since 2011, Gyeonggi Province has supported small and medium businesses’ utilization of the FTA by holding 27 briefing sessions, providing consultations to 241 businesses, and running 32 working-level training sessions for 1,660 people.

The province plans to continue its FTA briefing sessions as well as the consulting and training sessions to encourage local companies to utilize FTAs, and in particular to help them prepare for post-inspections by Korea’s FTA partners, the EU and the USA.
