(Published July 24, 2012)

Killing two birds with one stone with the launch of train services from Busan and Suwon all the way up to Imjingang Station: the Paju Folk Festival combined with a tour of the DMZ… and a one-off special concert with Jose Feliciano and C’est Si Bong.

With the launch of a special train service, you’ll have the chance to see both IU in concert and the DMZ.

The new tourist train service, launched on July 24th, will allow you to enjoy IU, Korea’s little sister, Jose Feliciano, and C’est Si Bong among the various acts who will be sharing the stage at the 2nd Paju Folk Festival (September 8 to 9 / Imjingak Pyeonghoa Nuri).

The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization and Bogoon Co., Ltd. have commissioned train services departing from both regional and metropolitan areas on behalf of visitors to the Paju Folk Festival.

The regional train service departs from Busan Station and passes via Ulsan ~ Taehwagang Station ~ Dongdaegu ~ Daejeon, while the metropolitan train service departs from Suwon Station and passes via Yeongdeungpo and Seoul Station. Both train services have been laid on exclusively for the Paju Folk Festival and go all the way to Imjingang Station.

The regional service includes a tour of the DMZ (including the 3rd infiltration tunnel) and an enjoyable day tour of the folk festival for just KRW 89,000 per adult. In one day you can see everything from the DMZ to the folk festival for an outlay of less than KRW 100,000! The metropolitan service, departing from Suwon, includes the train fare and folk festival entrance fee, and costs just KRW 35,000.

The Paju Folk Festival, hosted by the city of Paju and overseen by the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization and Joy Communications, proved its popularity at its inaugural event last year. This year you will be able to enjoy the performances of a number of world-class folk musicians from Korea and abroad in one venue, including Jose Feliciano, who sees a more beautiful world through his sightless eyes; Yun Hyeong-ju and Kim Se-hwan of C’est Si Bong, who will draw you into their acoustic guitar music; and IU, Korea’s little sister, among others.

A public official said, “With Jose Feliciano, C’est Si Bong, IU, and other major acts on the bill, it’s worth taking advantage of this train service as an easy way to enjoy the nation’s finest folk gig with a refreshing trip all the way to Imjingang Station and the DMZ thrown in.”
