The Korea Ceramic Foundation and the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum opened an exhibition titled Agencement: The Resonance of Paintings and Ceramics with the help of the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art on October 16.
The word “agencement” is a French-language concept taken from structuralism that means “arrangement.” It is used to describe the correlation between two different things when they create a dynamic energy that changes both.
The exhibition Agencement has been conceived to connect modern ceramics with visual arts in an attempt to find aesthetic values that transcend their historic and material differences, and could point the way to new possibilities for Korean contemporary art.
Thirteen ceramics masters including Kim Sang-man and Kim Yeong-ik, and ten visual artists including Kim Gi-Lin, are taking part in the exhibition. The artists have come together to bridge the differences between their chosen art forms and create a spiritual bond resulting in an eye-catching series of works.
The exhibition has introduced twenty-nine new pieces of artwork.◇ The Pot by Cheong Kwang-ho ⓒ G-News Plus
The unlikely collaboration has given birth to a series of unique artworks that are sure to intrigue the audience with its fresh approach to beauty, stimulating the mind and opening new horizons.
A member of the gallery’s staff said, “This autumn, Agencement is presenting a new form of artistic expression. Ceramics masters and contemporary artists are exploring new boundaries in an attempt to discover new potential.”
The exhibition was opened to the public on October 16 in the special exhibition hall on the first floor of the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum in Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province. Admission is free. The exhibition will end on December 16.
