The Gyeonggi Provincial Government and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) co-hosted G-Fair Korea Trade Show Tokyo 2017 with the participation of a total of 107 companies from Seoul and Incheon – including 45 companies from Gyeonggi Province – to diversify export markets and improve the trade deficit with Japan.
Companies from Gyeonggi Province targeting the Japanese market drew considerable attention from Japanese buyers who participated in the fair, particularly with regard to creative goods, cosmetic medical equipment, and electric, electronic, and IT products.
UNITEC, a company from Gyeonggi Province, obtained orders valued at USD 300,000 from Japanese buyers for cosmetic skin care devices, and signed a contract with a well-known home shopping company to launch their products in Japan.
Morning Touch, an eco-friendly vinyl and plastic manufacturer, clinched export contracts valued at USD 100,000 in consultation with many distributors in Japan, and was requested to form an export team to oversee trade with Japan right after the conclusion of the G-Fair consulting session.
Smart Medical Device Co., Ltd., which displayed smart low-frequency therapeutic apparatuses appropriate for the needs of the emerging super-aged society in Japan, was involved in export consultations with Japanese conglomerates as well as medical device distributors for amounts totaling USD 200,000.
To help companies maximize export performance at the event, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government primarily selected companies that meet the demands of differing customer age groups in Japan – characterized by increasing markets among the elderly and single-person households – and practically supported the operation of the Gyeonggi booths by inducing and guiding buyers who visited the fair.
Furthermore, the provincial government will hold additional G-Fair events in India in May, Dubai in September, and Vietnam in November.
