Skiing, sledding, and bathing in hot water springs are activities that are much appreciated during the winter months. But planning an excursion in winter can be difficult when you do not know where to go. So Gyeonggi Province has prepared four travel locations that can be covered in two days for families, friends, and couples who are looking forward to their winter vacation.
Sledding in Yongin
Yongin is a great place to go if you are looking forward to sledding this winter. There is an extra-large slope at the Yongin Youth Center where you can sledge to your heart’s content then get a good rest at Doongji Art Village. Dungji Museum and Waujeongsa Temple are nearby. If you’re a foodie, why not try visiting some of the excellent restaurants in the area. The region is known for its soft tofu. Visit the Baegam Sundaechon Village for a satisfying meal of soft tofu soup and more.
Yongin Youth Training Center Sledding Slope for Winter Vacations
The Yongin Youth Training Center is situated right next to Yangji IC on the Yeongdong Expressway. The slope is 150 meters long and wide enough for thirty people to slide down at once. No queuing is necessary. Visitors can enjoy their day out in the snow in good hands, as competent staff manage the slope here and there.
Users can take a break in the nearby tent and change in the gym. There are snack stores that sell udong, jjajangmeon (noodles with black soybean sauce), fish cakes and other hot foods to melt away the cold after a long day out in the snow. It is sure to delight children and adults alike.
Admission: KRW 5,000 for adults over 25; KRW 4,500 for young adults over 16; KRW 4,000 for children under 15

You can choose from traditional ondol-heated rooms (Korean traditional floor heating) on the ground floor or Western rooms on the second. You can also rent out a whole building for added privacy. Some of the condos are cabins comprising a wide living space complete with a fireplace. A number of pottery studios and art museums are situated nearby for more fun activities.
Fee: 1st or 2nd floor of condo – KRW 100,000 on weekdays, KRW 150,000 on weekends; KRW 350,000 for whole condo

Winter Delicacy, Baegam Sundae
Yongin’s Baegam Sundae (similar to sausage) is filled with various vegetables and minced meat, and is moist and mild in flavor, making it ideal for younger children. The dish can be enjoyed as a meal or as a side dish with drinks. And if you drop it in some hot beef broth you have sundaeguk (Korean sausage soup rice). The sundaeguk served at Yongin does not skimp on meat or sundae, so a bowl will leave you feeling full and contented in the cold winter season. Many of the diners come from the nearby sledge parks and ski resorts to get their fix of sundae soup.◇ Sundaeguk with rice at Baegam Sundaechon Village ⓒ G-News Plus
Dad is a Docent at Dungji Museum!
Dungji Museum displays exhibits related to daily life in Korea during the period 1960 to 1990. The big old television that used to sit in grandfather’s room, empty soft drink bottles that were collected and exchanged for money, magazines that were smuggled in classrooms, public phones where people lined up to call whoever paged them, everyone’s first mobile PCS phone… they may have not been special when they were around, but they are fond memories nonetheless. Fathers can show their children around like a docent of the museum shedding light into the past. The 2nd story is dedicated to the history of comics.
Fee: KRW 2,000 for adults; KRW 1,500 for students; KRW 1,000 for preschool children

Noodle Soup with Seafood Delight
There are plenty of seafood noodle restaurants scattered all over Jebudo Island. Remember to take a seat with a good view of the sea when you dine at one of the restaurants. If seafood noodles are not enough to satisfy your stomach, why not order a dish of live octopus.
You can ask the staff to cook the octopus’ head with the noodles when you order a dish. This will give the noodle soup more flavor along with the clams. Some restaurants offer a small bowl of barley or set menus complete with grilled clams or prawns.
The Yellow Sea Beckons in the Winter! ◇ Jebudo Island Beach ⓒ G-News Plus
The highlight of a trip to Jebudo Island is a stroll along the beach. Tando Port and Jeongok Port can be seen in the distance under the clear blue sky. When the weather is fine, you can see as far as the power plant on Yeonghuengdo and the smoke coming out of the building. The mudflat covered with ice slates continue along the coast. The weather may be cold but due to the beautiful scenery, the drive is an awarding one.
The path to Jebudo Island surfaces twice a day according to the tide, so remember to check the time frame when the path becomes available. Times may vary by thirty minutes or so depending on the weather.
Take a bus from Ansan Station or Suwon Station to Jebudo Island entrance if travelling by public transport. There is a bus stop in front of the store “Jebudo Jagalchi” from which buses leave for the island every hour on the dot.
