Gyeonggi Government Hosts First Preview of Pororo, The Racing Adventure

Pororo returns to fans with its new cinema adaptation, which has been partially funded by Gyeonggi Province.
 
Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Content Agency hosted the premier of the full-length film animation Pororo, The Racing Adventure, selected by the 2012 Create a Legend Project, at 19:00 at the Suwon CGV on January 11th.
 
Governor Kim Moon-soo of Gyeonggi Province, Chairman Kim Gyeong-pyo of the Culture and Sports Committee of Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, CEO Gang Seok-hui of CJ E&M, the distributor of the movie, CEO Kim Il-ho of Ocon Animation Studio. in charge of production, Chairman Choi Dong-ok of the Gyeonggi Content Agency, and other Gyeonggi Province department heads were present.
 
Two hundred young people from the Suwon Multicultural Family Support Center, the Suwon Immigrant Center, and the Suwon Children’s Center also attended the event.

The ‘Create a Legend’ project is a program organized by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Content Agency to stimulate Korea’s animation industry. In 2007, the project funded Leafie, A Hen into the Wild, Korea’s highest grossing animation movie, released in 2011.

Gyeonggi Province invested KRW 560 million in Leafie, A Hen into the Wild. The interest earned from the movie will be reinvested to develop the content industry, which has been praised for establishing a successful public funding business model.
 
Gyeonggi Province invested around KRW 300 million last year in the second “Create a Legend” fund in 2012 to make Pororo, The Racing Adventure, with the aim of continuing the success it had with the previous project.
 
The children’s feature film Pororo, Super Sleighing Adventures follows the adventures of Pororo, the protagonist of an animation series worth KRW 850 billion and KRW 5.7 trillion in economic effects. The movie was produced in 3D to maximize viewer entertainment.
 
2013 marks the tenth anniversary of the popular character, bringing even greater significance to the movie’s premier. The movie will be screened in over six hundred theatres in China, anticipating young fans’ eagerness to see their favorite character. The popularity of the animation is expected to boost Korea’s cultural influence in China.
 
The full length 3D animation Pororo, Super Sleighing Adventures (Produced by OCON STUDIOS and distributed by CJ Entertainment) will open on January 24 in Korea and January 25 in China.2.jpg Images◇ The “Pororo” animation series, estimated to be worth around KRW 850 billion and KRW 5.7 trillion in economic effects, has been produced into a 3D animation film. ⓒ G-News Plus
