Serious Game Festival renamed Good Game Show Korea

Held on May 24 to 26 in KINTEX… Large scale exhibition accommodating 50,000 visitors and 170 participating companies

Korea Serious Game Festival, the one and only festival of serious games in Korea, was renamed ‘Good Game Show Korea’ and is transformed into the large scale exhibition including exhibition, activities, and export consulting.

Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Content Ageny announced on March 3 that they would hold ‘Good Game Show Korea 2013’(hereinafter, ‘Good Game Show’) on May 24~26 (3 days) in KINTEX, Goyang, and would attain the goals of 50,000 visitors, 170 participating companies, and USD 150 million of on-site contracts.

The former festival of Good Game Show, Korea Serious Game Festival, started in 2009 as the first convention and continued for 4 years, playing a significant role in developing domestic serious games industry and promoting exports. Last year, it recorded 50,000 visitors, 134 companies participating in the consulting session, USD 115.8 million of on-site contacts.

“As the convention continued, there were increasing voices requesting for the expansion of the convention,” said one official of Gyeonggi Provincial Office. “To cope with the limitations, we decided to relocate the place from seongnam to KINTEX and hold it on a large scale encompassing exhibition, activities, and export consulting.” He explained.

To expand the scale, Gyeonggi Provincial Office is planning to invite about 70 overseas buyers from Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, China, and Japan, and to give opportunities to small and medium sized serious game companies by operating investment market for small and medium sized contents companies in the region.

Moreover, it plans to operate Planning Pavilion and Activities Pavilion for various games related to education, fitness, and health, and offer accompanying events so that general game lovers, teenagers, and families having young children can easily enjoy the convention, not to mention the industry officials.◇ ‘Opening ceremony of 2012 Korea Serious Game Festival’ held on August 31 last year. ⓒ G-News Plus, Jehoon Yu
