○ Korea Ceramic Foundation holds ‘Ggotdomi Festival’ at Icheon Cerapia and ‘Hwahwa Festival’ at Yeoju Dojasesang from April 27 to May 19.

Welcoming the spring, Korea Ceramic Foundation will hold ‘Ggotdomi Festival’ at Icheon Cerapia and ‘Hwahwa Festival’ at Yeoju Dojasesang (Ceramics World) from April 27 to May 19.
‘Ggotdomi Festival’ of the ceramic artworks theme park Cerapia of Icheon will attract visitors by exhibiting modern ceramics in <Pleasant Ceramics Exhibition> and <Eric Carle Special Exhibition with ceramics>. Also, art markets will be held such as ‘Spring ceramics special market’ where visitors can find spring-themed ceramic products, and ‘Your own spring flower pot market’ where visitors can buy flowerpots that artists made.
On the weekends, Cerapia runs various educational experience programs for family-group visitors including ‘1 night 2 days healing camp’ and ‘Making my family with clay’. In particular, it is notable that the theme park runs ceramics experience program in connection with the world famous children’s book author Eric Carle’s special exhibition in commemoration of Children’s Day. In addition to this, events such as soil activity event, hanging flower bells on ceramic tree, and special performance are also attractive.
In the same period, Dojasesang of Yeoju, a ceramics shopping and cultural tourist district having nice view of Sinreuksa Temple and Namhan River, will hold ‘Hwahwa Festival’. It means, as it named, a festival to light a fire to bake pottery and make good memories with family.
During the festival period, Living shop, Gallery shop, Art shop, and Brand shop of Living Ceramics Shopping Mall in Dojasesang, where newly decorated for spring, will sell ceramic wares on sale. Ceramics Shopping Mall of Dojasesang is the only one large-scale shopping mall for living ceramic wares in the nation, selling 6,300 ceramic products from national 115 ceramic makers.
In addition to this, various events will be held on the weekends for family groups including spinning wheel, soil play, and cooking performance. In particular, ‘Outdoor kiln baking experience’ is a unique event where visitors can bake ceramics by themselves at the large kiln made with bricks in the corridor of Hanok (Korean traditional house) of Dojasesang.
Bandal Art Museum of Yeoju Dojasesang exhibits the relay exhibition for living ceramics <Living Ceramics by 100 Craftsmen> and the ceramics life exhibition <Small Indulgence> to show interior decorations using living ceramics. Moreover, ‘Yeoju Ceramics Hanmadang’ with participation of 50 ceramics makers in Yeoju region will be included in Hwahwa Festival, offering lavish contents.
Meanwhile, ‘Gonjiam Ceramics Park Opening Festival’ will be held in celebration of the opening of Gwangju Gonjiam Ceramics Park, a ceramics history and culture park, from May 10 to 19.
