On May 22, the Gyeonggi Province Office reported that Mr. Kim Moon-soo had received the Korea Reliability Award 2013 in the government/public sector category. The award was presented by KORAS at a ceremony that was held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel Suwon.
Launched in 1992, KORAS is a body for academic activities, which has been designed to help domestic materials and parts businesses enhance their global competitiveness. Under the leadership of President Nam Kyung-hyun (Professor at Kyonggi University), it has 300-plus members.
KORAS has decided to present the said award to those who have made a noticeable contribution to the enhancement and development of reliability in the areas of the government/public sector, the manufacturing industry, and the service industry. It selected Governor Kim Moon-soo as the winner of the award for 2013 for the government/public sector.
Concerning the reason for the selection of Mr. Kim Moon-soo, KORAS said that he has rendered distinguished services, including attracting FDIs worth 16.1 billion USD (based on those covered by MOUs) from 126 businesses and the formation of foreign investment zones (Jangan, Hwaseong) for 28 businesses specializing in hi-tech parts and materials, such as 3M Korea.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Kim Moon-soo said, “I have put a priority on attracting FDIs amidst the difficulties that are associated with a global recession and national security threats. I am happy that my efforts like that have been recognized. I will continue to do my best to create jobs, invigorate the local economy, and help local businesses enhance their global competiveness.”
In the meantime, Samsung Electronics CEO Shin Jong-kyun and LG CNS CEO Km Dae-hoon received the award in the sectors of manufacturing and service businesses, respectively.
