Domestic and foreign tourists have increased 69% compared to a decade ago. Yongin has the most visitors, followed by Gwacheon and Goyang in order.

Tourists visiting Gyeonggi Province has increased nearly 70% compared to 10 years ago.
Gyeonggi Province announced on May 12 that Gyeonggi Province had a total of 71.25 million domestic and foreign visitors last year, a 69% up from 42.45 million in 2002, which is 10 years ago, according to the statistics of Korea Culture & Tourism Institute.
Among the figure, the number of foreign tourists was a total of 4.12 million, which means daily 11,000 foreigners visited Gyeonggi Province. After the number recorded 4.75 million in 2002 due to 2002 FIFA World Cup, foreign tourists have steadily increased, for example, 1.84 million in 2005, and 2.2 million in 2008.
For regions, Yongin had the most visitors of 14.58 million, followed by Gwacheon of 10.89 million, Goyang of 10.81 million, and Paju of 9.82 million in order. Visitors with charge (59.66 million) were 5 times those without charge (12.09 million).
The number of tourist spots in Gyeonggi Province is a total of 297, and Gapyeong has the most as 52 spots (17.5%), followed by Yongin of 44 spots (14.8%), Paju of 26 spots (8.8%), and Yeoju of 24 spots (8.1%).
The places where domestic tourists visited the most were Everland of Yongin (5.99 million), Ilsan Lake Park of Goyang (5.03 million), Imjingak of Paju (4.45 million), KINTEX of Goyang (3.53 million), Seoul Grand Park (3.43 million) and Seoul Horse Racing Park (3.31 million) of Gwacheon, Carribean Bay of Yongin (1.57 million), Pyeongtaek Lake of Pyeongtaek (1.35 million), Sanjeong Lake of Pocheon (1.30 million), and Heyri Art Valley of Paju (1.10 million) in order.
Meanwhile, foreign tourists visited the most Imjingak of Paju (810,000), Everland of Yongin (670,000), Third Infiltration Tunnel in DMZ of Paju (510,000), Kimchi School of Goyang (340,000), Unification Observatory of Paju (280,000), Hwaseong Fortress of Suwon (270,000), Korean Folk Village of Yongin (150,000), and Seoul Land of Gwacheon (140,000) in order.
Gyeonggi Province analyzed that foreign tourists has increased due to the recent Korean wave, and they are usually concentrated into the northern part of Gyeonggi Province, where they can see the characteristics of the only divided nation in the world.
