Governor Kim Moon-soo visits Europe to attract investment
A delegation headed by Governor Kim Moon-soo is visiting Europe (Sweden, Denmark, and Germany) for nine days from June 22 to 30.
The delegation is scheduled to sign two investment agreements in Stockholm – one in Copenhagen, one in Leipzig – plus an LOI in Dresden, amounting to $280 million. The Gyeonggi Provincial Office expects these investments by European businesses in the province to create about 2,300 new jobs.
Mr. Kim Moon-soo will also meet Koreans living in Stockholm to discuss the welfare policy of Sweden and pay a visit to dairy farms in Aarhus, Denmark.
In addition, he will attend the Korea-Germany Panel Discussion on the Unification of the Korean Peninsula to be held on June 27 in Leipzig as panelist. He will exchange views on the unification of Korea and Germany with experts and ordinary people.
On June 28, Governor Kim Moon-soo will visit Deputy Chief Minister Sven Morlok of the Free State of Saxony and see how things have changed in the post-unification period. People of the state are known to have played a leading role in German unification, chanting “Wir sind ein Volk” (“We are one people”) in 1989.
Commenting on the delegation’s visit to Europe, Hwang Seong-tae, Head of the Office of Economy & Investment of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office, revealed that leading businesses in Europe have expressed their willingness to invest in Gyeonggi Province, encouraged by the favorable investment environment and growth provided by the province. We at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office will continue to provide the best possible investment environment for foreigners and give positive administrative support to them,” he vowed.
