In the morning of June 24, the delegation signed an MOU concerning Scania’s ,a world-renowned truck manufacturer, $20 million investment in Gyeonggi Province over the next five years.
In June 2012, the Swedish truck manufacturer signed a contract for move-in to the Dongtan Industrial Complex.
Regarding the deal for Scania’s investment plan, Governor Kim Moon-soo believes the decision of Scania Korea to move its headquarters to the Dongtan Industrial Complex and build a new service shop there is a superb choice. “It will enjoy considerable synergistic effects in association with vehicle makers, i.e., Hyundai, Kia, Volvo, Bosch, Delphi, and Faurecia. We will provide all possible support for Scania’s successful business operation in our province,” he vowed.
Gyeonggi Province expects 195 new jobs – including 25 directly employed – to be created upon completion of the work for the large-scale service shop by May 2014. Scania’s use of locally produced parts will give a shot in the arm to those engaging in the relevant business and contribute to the development of locally produced commercial vehicles.
