Hosted by Gyeonggi Province, the opening ceremony for the third class of Announcer Academy was held in the International Conference Room of Gyeonggi Provincial Office New Building at 10:00 a.m. on June 17.
Public officials such as Gyeonggi Vice-governor for Economy Kim Hui-gyeom, Gyeonggi Provincial Spokesman Jeong Taek-jin, and Public Relations Director Lee Dae-jik have celebrated to congratulate the entire 18 students in the 3rd class, who came through a tough competition in which only one in five was selected. As Ryu Soo-gyeong, one of the current announcers, hosted the event, she gained all the attention from the students.
Starting in April with the opening ceremony on April 2, the first class of the academy was only four-week long. As its first graduates, however, had hoped the course to be extended, the program was extended to six-week long from the second class. The program divides 20 attendees into two classes with 10 people each and provides special lectures combining theoretical and practical lessons twice a week for six weeks. Compared to private institutes which cost millions of won, the attendees benefit greatly from the program as it is free.

In this meeting, Vice-governor Kim Hui-gyeom said, “participating in this program is not only important to fulfill your dream but also greatly beneficial to you. Six week of training is short, but I hope this will serve as a great opportunity for you to gain confidence in your social life.”
Then, he added, “After six weeks, some will be competent to be put into the scene, but some will feel insufficient. This may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I hope all of you make an every effort.” He emphasized this program as a golden chance, saying “Even if you may choose a career other than an announcer, this program will greatly benefit you because you will learn how to effectively express your opinions with confidence here.”
Gyeonggi Provincial Spokesman Jeong Taek-jin said, “We started Announcer Academy for the purpose of increasing youth employment rate, and I was surprised that people show great interest in this program than I had expected. If you do your best, you will be able to accomplish your goal.” Then, he asked, “By the way, can you keep this promise?”
After a while of silence, he came with an unexpected promise. “Please don’t cry at the graduation ceremony!”

In this program, students will learn basic skills for broadcasting through basic courses such as respiration, vocalization, and pronunciation, delivery skills in front of the camera as a broadcaster, and hands-on experiences as a newscaster. The academy offers various broadcasting experiences such as MC, DJ, narration and speech training for interview as well.
The most benefit of this program is to learn about the broadcasting field by practicing in the actual broadcasting settings and to gain real-life experiences by exploring fresh news from current professionals including G-News reporters.
As the final examining course, the program provides students with an opportunity to broadcast news as an anchor at the actual new sets in the presence of current directors of photography and editorial directors. What is more, their video clip will be given to each student.
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province will produce 120 graduates through Announcer Academy by opening six classes from April to December.
