The products of outstanding small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the province captivated fastidious Swiss buyers.

Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Center (GSBC) held the Big Swiss Buyer Invitational Export Conference for two days on August 5 and 6 on the third floor of GSBC in cooperation with KOTRA Zürich, resulting in USD 20 billion  in the value of export consultation.

The conference was a great opportunity for firms that had been preparing to enter the European markets, as they were well-received by the buyers and thus can anticipate good results.

HSL, Co., Ltd (CEO Kim Hyun-joo), a laundry drying rack manufacturer located in Gwangju-si, has prepared English and German catalogs based on their experiences exporting to Germany and obtained the certificate of origin, thereby being acknowledged to have thoroughly prepared to advance into the European markets and signing the contract to deliver products worth USD 500,000 starting next month.

Yujin Robot (CEO Shin Gyoung-cheol), a specialized robot manufacturer located in Bucheon-si, attracted attention in that its robot cleaners have competitive advantage in quality and price and that it is producing Philips OEM products, and agreed to export products worth USD seven million.

Another company drew attention with products suitable for the European markets where there is a growing demand for eco-friendly products.

Elects Korea (CEO Lim Jong-bok), a manufacturer of green outdoor products such as LED heads and bicycle lanterns, was also well-received for their eco-friendly LED products with high energy efficiency and notched up consultations worth UDS one million.

GWell Korea (CEO Kim Woo-gyeong), which manufactures vacuum packages, vacuum containers, and air cleaners in Ansan, also received great acclaim for the reusability and efficiency of the products, acquiring results worth UDS one million.

LANDI, which attended the export conference as a buyer, is a large retail company with annual sales of USD 1.4 billion running over 300 stores across Switzerland. The SMEs within Gyeonggi Province can expect great opportunities to advance into the European markets through LANDI.

This conference was considered to be especially helpful in progressing transactions because the products of the participating firms were on exhibit in advance so that the buyers could directly see and demonstrate them.

“Recently we are making efforts to expand exports of various products such as domestic foods to Switzerland, which has a fastidious consumption propensity,” said Hong Ki-hwa, president and CEO of GSBC, adding, “We expect this conference to serve as a driving force for domestic firms continuously to enter the Swiss market.”

After the conference, LANDI is schedule to visit manufacturing plants in Gyeonggi Province and large domestic retailers from August 7 through  9 for market research for the purpose of expanding its trade with Korea.
