Gyeonggi Governor Kim Moon-soo visited Russia for three days from August 26 to 28, where he signed the MOU of amity and cooperation to exchange and cooperate with the Maritime Territory in various fields such as health and medical services, trade, economics, and culture.
The Maritime Territory of Russia visited by the delegation with Governor Kim as its leader has excellent geographical accessibility from Korea, facing the Korean Peninsula directly. It is a strategic point that connects the Asia-Pacific region and Europe as well as the center of the Russian Far East and Siberia.
Currently, 1.98 million people live in the Maritime Territory, and it has great significance in terms of its advantageous location for expanding to Europe, for which the Russian central government is establishing special development strategies in terms of national security.
Thus, during the three-day visit to Maritime Territory, the Gyeonggi delegation signed the MOU with the local government, visited the site of the support project for Koreans in Russia, and participated in the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Gyeonggi Medical Business Center (GMBC), overall making efforts to exchange health and medical services between the two regions.
The delegation first visited the Korean Friendship Village in Ussuriysk on August 26, where they held a health seminar and carried out volunteer medical services.
On August 27, they promoted Gyeonggi medical institutions, medical services and technologies in the Russian Far East, and attended the Grand Opening Ceremony of the GMBC that will carry forward the exchange and cooperation projects.
The delegation held the Gyeonggi Province-Russia Medical Conference in which medical personnel of Gyeonggi and Maritime Territory participated for the Gyeonggi medical industry to enter the Russian market. The conference widely promoted Gyeonggi’s excellent medical technologies and enhanced pride as Koreans.

“With this MOU signed between Gyeonggi Province and the Maritime Territory, we expect more active cooperation in all aspects including tourism, education, industrial exchange and export,” said Governor Kim at the end of the visit.
With the Gyeonggi Province-Maritime Territory MOU as the momentum, Gyeonggi Province is expecting that attraction of foreign patients in Russia to Gyeonggi hospitals will be accelerated. It will continue to actively promote excellent medical services infrastructure of Gyeonggi Province.
