□ The event hosted this day by the Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation was planned by the Corporation with Global Vision to embrace multicultural families, fast becoming a significant component of our society, for this year’s Chuseok festivities, as well as to signal the beginning of a sustained support program.

□ The Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation provided traditional market gift certificates to the 70 multicultural families that participated in the event this day to help with their holiday food needs. It also pledged to provide a total of 20 million Won to support the over one year education of the children of 20 multicultural families so as to afford them the opportunity for a better future.

□ The event, which ran from 3 p.m. to 5 pm. this day, comprised of Korean traditional activities including stuffed rice cake making, jegi (shuttlecock or hacky-sack) kicking and Korean darts.

□ The Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation also jointly hosted the “Visiting Hope Concert,” which has been hosted in culturally disadvantaged areas since 2010 to address the imbalance in cultural opportunities, further enriching the festivities of the day.

□ In the “Visiting Hope Concert” hosted by the Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation, the popular fusion Korean traditional music group “Goraeya” gave a rich and memorable performance, but the star of the festivities this day were the two multicultural family teams, who gave belly dance and Korean traditional percussion instrument performances.

□ Meanwhile, previous to the festivities of the day, the Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation provided 10 million Won in support funds on the 7th for improving the living conditions of two Vietnamese migrant women’s households in Dongducheon, in keeping with the global volunteer activities of the UCC (Union Corporate Committee). Ten volunteers from the Corporation joined in the project in a demonstration of real corporate social responsibility.

□ President Seung Dae Choi of the Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation said “Multicultural families already number more than 1 million, and today’s events were planned to help these members of our society lead a tomorrow better than today,” and added that “the Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation” will continue in its corporate social responsibility activities, in search of meaningful ways to contribute to society.
