The G Food Show 2013 opened on November 6 at Seoul COEX under the theme of Taste (Meet with) the World and closed in success on November 9 after the four-day programs.
The G Food Show is Korea’s largest place for promoting and selling agricultural specialties hosted by a single local government. Fifteen cities and counties showed their representative agricultural specialties during the event, and around 90 companies also presented a variety of their products. Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Green & Agriculture Foundation announced that it was an outstanding event with the participation of Gyeongggi-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services and National Agricultural Cooperative Federation Gyeonggi Regional Head Office as well as over 88,000 visitors.
The G Food Show is prepared to contribute to the substantial growth of income for farm households by providing a large-scale sales place of Gyeonggi agricultural specialties such as G Mark in Korea’s largest food and agriculture exhibition. During the event, the show achieved approximately KRW 2.5 billion in sales.
It is analyzed that the major cause for winning such popularity is selling premium Gyeonggi agricultural specialties with 50% discounts off the market price online and offline.
Customers who could not visit the show could also enjoy the same benefits through the online G Food Show. Gyeonggi Province signed an agreement on November 7 to cooperate with eBay Korea, which operates G Market and Auction, in activating sales of Gyeonggi’s excellent agricultural specialties and developing farm villages and agriculture.

Gyeonggi Province is expecting that the agreement with eBay Korea will provide the opportunity to increase online sales of safe and excellent Gyeonggi’s agricultural products with G Mark and promote its agricultural specialties and tour packages.
Moreover, Gyeonggi Province signed contracts with 10 buyers from 8 countries including Hong Kong, Malaysia and Canada to export fresh agricultural products worth $13 million including grapes, pears and fresh eggs.
“The G Food Show received fervent response with various experiences and events as an exhibition to share the vision of Gyeonggi agriculture with consumers and introduce Gyeonggi’s agricultural specialties,” said a provincial official.
He also added, “Many domestic retail companies, exporters, producers’ groups and farmers participated in this event. This was a great opportunity to enjoy a variety of foods produced in Gyeonggi in one place and purchase good agricultural specialties at a reasonable price, so there were many visitors and the sales results were good.”
