Hair World 2016 will be the largest event of its kind in the world with 150,000 people from around the globe expected to participate. Deemed the World Cup of the beauty industry, the 36th Hair World will take place at KINTEX in Goyang City of Gyeonggi Province.
After keen competition with China, Italy and Sri Lanka, Gyeonggi Province announced on January 8 that it will serve as host for Hair World, at which 150,000 people from home and abroad (10,000 foreign nationals) are expected to attend.
Hair World was held in Paris in 2010 and Milan in 2012, and this year it is being hosted by the Organization Mondiale Coiffure (OMC), a world beauty federation, and supervised by the Korea Central Beautician’s Association.
Founded in France in 1946, the OMC is currently the largest hairdressing and beauty-related organization in the world with over 60 member statesand one million hair salons registered. The event includes the Hair World Cup, European Championship, and Asian Championship as well as global beauty-related product exhibitions, receptions and symposiums. All beauty-related industries such as hair, cosmetics, nail, skincare and health are represented at the event.
At least 10,000 industry professionals including 3,000 experts and models representing the OMC member states as well as hairdressing-related people from around the world are expected to visit Gyeonggi Province. Around 150,000 visitors are projected to come for the event, and there will be over 1,500 booths related to the beauty industry.
According to the Korea Beauty Association, Hair World 2016 is expected to generate at least KRW 300 billion in economic effects.
“As a global mega-event with approximately 150,000 participants, this event is expected to produce a great synergy effects in positioning the Korean beauty industry in conjunction with the K-Beauty Expo hosted by Gyeonggi Province,” said Choi Byeong-gap, Director of Gyeonggi Province’s Service Industry Division.
