Gyeonggi Province was selected as the best organization for “autonomous internal control” in the continuous prevention of corruption.
At the awards ceremony for Local Governments’ Autonomous Internal Control Management Contest hosted by the Ministry of Security and Public Administration in Seoul on the morning of February 27, Gyeonggi Province received a presidential citation for being the top metropolitan authority.
The purpose of the Local Governments’ Autonomous Internal Control Management Contest was to evaluate the performance of local governments in terms of autonomous internal control management, a system for preventing various types of corruption that utilizes Integrity-e, Self-censorship and Public Office Ethics Management. At the event, 34 outstanding organizations that had passed the document screening process participated.
The province received high scores in all 22 categories of the document screening. It was recognized as the first local authority in Korea to exclusively employ manpower for internal control, to develop various ethical and integrity policies, and to ensure internal stability.
By presenting performance and developmental directions relevant to internal control management along with empirical cases focusing on the Integrity-e system, Gyeonggi Province was also highly acclaimed for surpassing other organizations in exemplary case presentations.
“Being selected as the most outstanding organization for autonomous internal control is a result of efforts by all public officials in Gyeonggi Province,” said Gyeonggi Province Inspector-General Jeon Bon-hee. “We will continue to utilize autonomous internal control by communicating with all public officials so as to take a lead in building a clean-handed public society and a mature local government.”
The award certificate and flag was dedicated by Gyeonggi Governor Kim Moon-soo at a monthly morning assembly on March 3.
