The Gyeonggi delegation headed by Governor Kim Moon-soo went on an overseas mission for 6 nights and 10 days from March 23 to visit the eastern United States and South America.

The purpose of this visit was to attract direct investment in the province from U.S. auto part makers with the recent vitalization of the U.S. automobile industry and to enhance cooperation with South American countries.

The delegation first visited New York and Michigan to sign investment MOUs with two U.S. companies related to auto parts. These companies will cooperate with companies in Gyeonggi Province and provide or extend manufacturing facilities.

Moreover, Governor Kim personally hosted the DMZ Photo Exhibition held in Washington, D.C., which was organized by the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, and met with key figures such as U.S. congressmen to discuss unification and security matters.

The delegation then visited Brazil and Argentina and sign an MOU for cooperation in the contents industry such as the game sector. In addition, it signed an MOU for cooperation between the Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Center (GSBC) and the Korean Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Brazil (Camara de Comercio e Industria Brasil – Coreia) to establish a bridgehead for the entry of small and medium-sized enterprises in Gyeonggi Province into the South American market.

Having conferences with local Korean residents, entrepreneurs and correspondents, and listening to the current status of the South American economy, the delegation had a tight schedule.

As they visited the U.S., South America and then the U.S. again before returning to Korea, they had a rigorous schedule and spent three nights in flight.
