■ Walk along a forest path to reduce your stress boost your mood!

The Forest Experience Healing Program operated last year by Yeoninsan Provincial Park was extremely popular with over 25,000 participants. Various forest recreation programs such as forest and meditation activities utilizing the natural assets of the park have been well received by the visitors.

According to the age of the participants and nature of the trails, four programs are offered including the Forest Trip along Sorigil, Waryongchu, the Hidden Dragon of Yeoninsan, and more. Each route includes meditation and field activities to energize visitors who are exhausted by city life.

Moreover, including the Yeoninsan Forest School Visiting Program, which introduces the ecosystem of Yeoninsan Provincial Park and is made available to institutions whose members cannot easily visit the park, Gyeonggi Province and GGAF are providing visitors with opportunities to contemplate the pricelessness of nature through various programs. This year the visiting programs are being provided to underprivileged members of the Gapyeong Rehabilitation Center and the Gapyeong Local Children’s Center. There will be more opportunities for the underprivileged to participate in such programs, especially those in need of emotional relaxation and care such as children from single-parent families and low-income homes as well as senior citizens living alone.

■ Treating atopy with family affection and advanced medical technology

The Atopy Family Healing Camp is an experiential program for atopic patients and their families. It is geared to improve patient health through the inhalation of phytoncide from nut pines, the enjoyment of various forest experiential activities, and through medical checkups and consultations with specialists from the CheongShim International Medical Center.

The programs have been well received by participants as they have an opportunity to cook their own meals with organic food, and to nurture love and affection among family members through experiential programs, as well as to have the causes of their atopic conditions clarified through systematic diagnostic methods such has blood tests and diet analysis.

Founded in 2011, the annual Atopy Family Healing Camp is the subject of considerable interest; it had 487 participants in 12 sessions in 2012 and 687 participants in 16 sessions last year.

“Visitors can appreciate the importance of nature and refresh exhausted minds and bodies through the various programs offered by Yeoninsan Provincial Park,” said Lee Se-woo, Director General of Gyeonggi Province’s Parks & Forests Bureau. “Starting this year, we will give consideration to underprivileged members of society, such as multicultural families, single-parent families and the disabled, so that they can regularly participate in the programs.”
