The Multiplex Delivery Center will handle manufacturing and logistics for the world-renowned motor company Volvo Trucks. It was completed in the hinterland of Pyeongtaek Port on May 13.
According to Gyeonggi Province, the completion of Volvo Trucks Korea’s Multiplex Delivery Center – which integrates a technical center and Volvo Trucks Logistics – was marked by a ceremony held on May 13 in the hinterland of provincially managed Pyeongtaek Port. The center will be operated by Pyeongtaek Multi(Motors) Logistics Complex (PMLC).
Following receipt of approval for the establishment of the center last August, PMLC finally completed the facility with a structural area of 10,565.79㎡ on a lot area of 62,391.3㎡.
With an investment of KRW 12 billion, the company equipped the center with vehicle inspection and delivery areas, as well as a cargo box assembly plant, open-air storage yards, driver education facilities, and a rest area and amenities for clients and their families.
Furthermore, by maximizing the relevant expertise of the specialized logistics company and the global automaker, the center is expected to provide a one-stop solution from manufacturing, training, and logistics to customer service in accordance with a new business model for integrated manufacturing and logistics.
The province expects that the Multiplex Delivery Center will contribute significantly to the vitalization of the regional economy by creating over 100 jobs, and that it will also establish a foothold for the emergence of Pyeongtaek Port as an international port specializing in vehicles.
The completion ceremony was attended by over 160 participants including Gyeonggi Province Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Nam Choong-hee, Swedish Ambassador Lars Danielsson, Volvo Group Trucks Asia Oceania Sales President Christophe Martin, and Volvo Trucks Korea President Kim Young-jae.
“We are confident that Volvo Trucks Korea will collaborate with companies in the province to enhance domestic outsourcing and technological cooperation,” said Nam.
