Governor Nam attended the “Town Hall Meeting with 500 Gyeonggi Women for Policy Proposals” that took place at the Gyeonggi Small Business Center (GSBC) on July 3.

Governor Nam attended the “Town Hall Meeting with 500 Gyeonggi Women for Policy Proposal” that took place at the Gyeonggi Small Business Center on the afternoon of July 3.

In celebration of the 19th Gyeonggi Women’s Week, the meeting took place to showcase presentations regarding policies and key issues involving women, and to stage an open discussion with the participation of the incoming governor of Gyeonggi Province. Under the theme of “Warm Gyeonggi Province, a society where women can work freely”, three key topics were covered: success stories of women entrepreneurs; flexible jobs; and safety for women and children living in Gyeonggi Province. These topics were covered through presentations, and each presentation was followed by a 15-minute open discussion.  

At the first session covering business start-up stories through Gyeonggi provincial policies for women, Director Kim Myeong-hee presented business start-up cases that had received support through provincial policies. Afterwards, Office Chief Lee Mi-jeong made a presentation on exemplary business cases during the second session on flexible jobs. Finally, Professor Kim Jong-mok from the Gyeonggi Fire Service Academy made presentation oncommon but incorrect beliefs involving first aid and safety in daily life.

Director Lee Mi-jeong presents on the topic of flexible jobs. 

Governor Nam said, “I am impressed by your serious attitudes. I believe there are no shortcuts to innovation. Innovation starts with ourselves first. By implementing a Big Data policy for the first time in Korea, I will create more job opportunities in Gyeonggi Province”.

Governor Nam offers greetings to the participants.

During the ceremony held to celebrate Women’s Week that day, Mun Ok-sun (Namyangju City), Park Jeong-ja (Ansan City), and Park Sun-ok (Yongin City) were named award winners in the 29th Awards for Gyeonggi Women in the categories of volunteer work, business management/local economy, and new knowledge/science and technology, respectively. Furthermore, 10 women including Cho Sun-hee (Pyeongtaek Rural Women Leaders Federation) received awards in recognition of their contributions to the empowerment of women.
