Governor Nam visits first UN battle site of the Korean War

On July 5, 1950, the first engagement between UN and North Korean forces took place at Jukmiryeong after UN forces advanced from Daejeon. The UN Forces First Battle Monument was built at Jukmiryeong in Osan City.

Governor Nam lays a flower during the memorial ceremony for UN forces to honor fallen soldiers. 

On July 3, Governor Nam attended the 64th memorial ceremony to commemorate the first engagement of UN forces against North Korean troops and to honor the fallen soldiers of Task Force Smith. Over 300 guests participated in the ceremony including Governor Nam, Osan City Mayor Gwak Sang-wook, National Assembly Member An Min-seok, Future US-Korea Foundation Chairman Kim Chang-joon, 8th US Army Commanding General Bernard S. Champoux, Osan City Council Chairperson Moon Young-Geun, and heads and members of local veterans groups.
