The constsruction of an automobile parts logistics center facility of the world-renowned car maker, Mercedes Benz, is now complete at Iljuk-myeon, Anseong City.

Around 400 people were present at the construction completion ceremony at 11am on the 10th, including Dr. Soo-Young Park, Vice Governor of Gyeonggi Province, Dr. Rolf Schuster, Deputy Ambassador of the German Embassy, Mayor Eun-Sung Hwang of Anseong City, Klaus Ziemsky, head of global logistics at Daimer AG and Ms. Britta Seeger, CEO of Mercedes Benz Korea.

The parent company of Mercedes Benz, established in 1886, is Daimler AG (based in Stuttgart, Germany) which records anuual sales of around 160 Trillion Won and was the first to invent the “automobile”. Mercedes Benz Korea was established in January 2003 and it has grown to become one of the top 3 imported automobile manufacturers in Korea.

Last year, Mercedes Benz announced its ‘Korea 2020’ vision in which it will invest around 100 Billion Won in building a parts logistics center, training center, R&D center and making social contributions.

The parts logistics center is first of many investments that will be made by Benz pursuant to its ‘Korea 2020’ vision. Approximately 52 Billion Won was invested last year to build the logistics facility. It will provide around 30,000 parts to 59 service centers for automobiles/commercial vehicles and other suppliers.

Kyu-Sang Cho, Vice President of Mercedes Benz Korea’s Service/Parts Division said, “We will seek to improve safety and enhance service quality in our newly built parts logistics center with state-of-the-art systems and devices. Anseong will become the center of parts logistics in the Metropolitan area and nationwide, utilizing the excellent R&D personnel and skilled workers in Gyeonggi Province.”

In his greeting message, Vice Governor Soo-Young Park said, “We hope that Mercedes Benz, the leading manufacturer of imported cars in Korea, will work with local companies in Gyeonggi Province to strengthen its after market services, reduce logistics costs through domestic outsourcing and strengthen technological collaboration”.
