A series of delegations from around the world have been visiting Gyeonggi Province to benchmark its science and technology policies.

According to GSTEP, a group of high-ranking officials from the science and technology ministries and related organizations of four Asian countries currently participating in the KOICA program visited GSTEP on June 2 to benchmark the science and technology policies of the province.

The officials visited GSTEP as part of the competence enhancement program offered to public officials from four developing countries (Bangladesh, the Philippines, East Timor and Pakistan) since 2013.

They were introduced to regional science and technology policies that Gyeonggi Province has actively implemented such as the Gwanggyo and Pangyo techno valley initiatives, and regional science and technology policy implementation models as well as exemplary cases of science and technology policies focusing on fostering small and medium-sized enterprises.

Of particular note, they expressed keen interest in the science and technology policies of Gyeonggi Province, innovative cluster functions, and industry-university-institute cooperation

Lee Yeon-hee, Director of the Policy Research Division at GSTEP, said, “We will endeavor to share and disseminate exemplary cases of the science and technology policies of the province while helping companies in Gyeonggi Province enter overseas markets and enhancing their global competitiveness.”

Last year, approximately 100 public officials involved in the science and technology sector from 10 countries (including Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Cambodia and Ethiopia) visited GSTEP to study regional science and technology policies.
