As the summer vacation season begins in earnest, Gyeonggi Province has been promoting the forest recreational facilities of the province among vacationers.

The quintessential summer vacation spot in the nation is a natural recreational forest. Currently, there are a total of 156 natural recreational forests that provide accommodations and other amenities amidst the natural backdrop of dense forests and valleys. Gyeonggi Province itself has 14 natural recreational forests: Mt. Yumyeongsan, Saneum, Mt. Jungmisan, Mt. Wunaksan, Mt. Chukryeong, Gangssibong, Mt. Yongmunsan City and County Park, Mt. Kalbong, Yongin, Mt. Cheonbo, Mt. Bara, Cheongpyeong, Seolmaejae, and Gungmangbong.

Of particular note, the natural recreational forests of Gangssibong, Mt. Chukryeongsan, Yongin, and Mt. Kalbongsan, having ranked among the top ten daily online search words for recreational forests, are popular summer vacation destinations in the metropolitan area.

If you want to take a one-day trip due to a busy schedule, arboretums that abound with beauty and greenery as well as lovely summer flowers are an ideal destination. A total of 14 out of the 43 arboretums in Korea are located in Gyeonggi Province: Gwangneung Arboretum, Mulhyanggi Arboretum, Hwanghaksan Arboretum, Uriggot Arboretum, Mureungdoweon Arboretum, Hantaek Botanical Garden, Yangpyeong Wild Flower Arboretum, Pyeonggang Botanical Garden, Garden of Morning Calm Arboretum, Yangjujasaeng Arboretum, Gonjiam Hwadam Forest Arboretum, Yongdo Arboretum, Seoul National University Gwanak Arboretum, and Shingu College Arboretum.

If you are more interested in health and experiences, there are 27 mountains and 234 story-backed natural properties that are recommended by Gyeonggi Province.

The 27 mountains are: Mt. Surisan, Mt. Gwanaksan, Namhansanseong, Mt. Seolbongsan, Mt. Seounsan, Mt. Chukryeongsan, Mt. Taehwasan, Mt. Yeoninsan, Mt. Gwanggyeosan, Mt. Suraksan, Mt. Cheonggyesan, Mt. Yumyeongsan, Mt. Myeongjisan, Mt. Munsusan, Mt. Gamansan, Mt. Baegunsan, Mt. Geomdansan, Mt. Ungilsan, Mt. Yongmunsan, Mt. Soyosan, Mt. Unaksan, Mt. Myeongseongsan, Mt. Cheonmasan, Gungmabong Peak, Mt. Homyeongsan, Mt. Seokryongsan, and Mt. Godaesan. You can also find story-telling boards installed intermittently along the trails. 

Natural recreational forests and arboretums have their own websites that you can visit for further information. Brochures distributed by the Forestry Division of Gyeonggi Province are also available for free.
