Gyeonggi Province announced on July 8 that the five provincial agencies – including the Gyeonggi Women Resources Development Center and the Goyang Women Resources Development Center – were selected as New Job Centers for Women under the auspices of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

The province explained that the Gyeonggi Women Resources Development Center, the Goyang Women Resources Development Center, the Ansan Women Resources Development Center, the Yongin University Business and Academic Cooperation Group, and the Icheon Women’s Center were selected as New Job Centers for Women through a competition held by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family last March and May. The five centers are among ten newly designated national centers located in Gyeonggi Province.

The New Job Centers for Women (hereinafter “New Job Centers”) are comprehensive employment support agencies for women who have experienced career discontinuation. The centers are jointly designated and operated by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Gyeonggi Province has been operating the 19 provincial New Job Centers.

The newly designated New Job Centers will provide differentiated employment support services for targeted groups in each region including vulnerable social groups, those in their 20s and 30s, and victims of adverse circumstances. The centers will focus on specific regional industries instead of monotonous and traditional employment support services. Accordingly, the five New Job Centers will provide customized support for the regional industries of Goyang and Icheon, as well as for career development via the Gyeonggi and Ansan Women Resources Development Centers. Additionally, a center for self-sufficiency will be built in Ansan.

The New Job Center installed in the Gyeonggi Women Resources Development Center will be linked with information and communication companies, thereby facilitating the reeducation of women who gave up careers due to family obligations via the Web Publisher Training Course and the e-Learning Contents Development Specialist Training Course.

The Goyang New Job Center will operate the Movie CG Producer Training Course and the EPR Information Administrator Training Course. The Ansan New Job Center will operate the Café Barista Training Course, the OA Master Training Course, and the Home Fashion Specialist Training Course.

The Yongin University Business and Academic Cooperation Group will operate the Fitness Professional Instructor Training Course and the Professional Special Physical Education Training Course. The Icheon Women’s Center will cultivate customized woman specialists reflecting regional recruiting needs through the Fashion Shop Master Training Course, the Logistics Administrator Training Course, and the Forklift Operator Training Course. The New Job Centers will undertake actual support services from August.

Oh Hyeon-suk, Director of the Women and Family Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, “Gyeonggi Province is creating more than 20,000 jobs through the New Job Centers, and will more actively pursue customized job creation projects for women who have experienced career discontinuation and are seeking jobs with the opportunity provided by the designation of New Job Centers. She added, “We will actively identify and select undesignated cities and counties for New Job Centers.”
