Gyeonggi Provincial Government Holds DMZ Photo Exhibition in LA

Some 100 Photographs of Korean DMZ and German Greenbelt Displayed

A celebratory event was held in Los Angeles for a special photo exhibition featuring pictures of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Korea.

On July 31 at the exhibition hall (Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles) on the second floor of the LA Korea Center, Gyeonggi Province held a ceremony for the DMZ Photo Exhibition in LA. The photo exhibition was prepared jointly by Gyeonggi Province, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, Yeoncheon County, and the Korea Culture Center in LA. The LA office of the Korea Tourism Organization and the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation also participated.  

The ceremony was held with some 200 attendees including Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil, Korean Consul General Kim Hyun-myung, German Consul General Stephen P. Newhous, and the head of the U.S. State Department Regional Office.

“Just as the Berlin Wall came down, South and North Korea will be soon reunified peacefully,” said Governor Nam in his congratulatory address at the ceremony. He added, “The DMZ, then, will be a place of peace and hope.”

Korean War veterans of the 1st Marine Division and the 40th Army Division attended the ceremony with family members and prayed for the peaceful reunification of Korea.

Featuring some 100 photographs of the Korean DMZ and the German Green Belt, the exhibition runs until August 8.

The DMZ Photo Exhibition in LA, an extension of the photo collection “TWO LINES” published by the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, presents some of the photographs contained in the collection.
