Governor Nam expressed his views on August 29, saying, “We are at an important juncture in the realization of social integration through the resolution of conflicts. Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province should undertake innovation.”
In his address during the Gyeonggi Leaders’ Monthly Breakfast Meeting held at the Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Center (GSBC), Governor Nam said, “We will pursue efforts directed toward cultural innovation and future innovation. I believe it should be about the integration of the world as one through leadership in which leaders strive to listen to opposing sides so as to persistently persuade and communicate with them, thereby making mutual concessions, just as US President Lincoln and German Chancellor Merkel did.”
Of particular note, Governor Nam said, “Koreans are yearning for leadership more than ever before.” He added, “The movie Roaring Currents has been seen by more than 10 million people. Although Admiral Yi Sun-shin also faced numerous objections, he demonstrated exemplary leadership that transcends history by setting faith in subordinates and integration as his top priorities.”
Regarding his efforts to resolve civil complaints through the ‘Let’s Meet the Governor’ sessions, Governor Nam commented, “I learned that many people are comforted only by meeting and sharing their pains with the governor. While resolving their complaints is the chief aim of my counseling sessions, I also want to share in their pains even if some may be difficult to resolve.”
Governor Nam also noted, “When I first ran for election, the chief monk of Yongjusa Temple told me of the words of King Jeong-jo: that the balance of the world can be harmed by just one person suffering from injustice.” He continued,“We all need to sincerely take care of each and every subordinate and make efforts to address their concerns. I will also work hard with such an attitude in mind.”
