Gyeonggi Province was honored with a group prize at the 44th Korea Crafts Competition.
Hosted by the Small and Medium Business Administration and organized by the Korea Federation of Handicrafts Cooperatives, the Korea Crafts Competition seeks to discover and foster outstanding crafts and arts that have been created in line with modern trends on the basis of traditional folkcrafts, and thereby to develop the Korea’s crafts industry.
A total of 444 pieces, qualifiers from the regional rounds, were submitted to this year’s competition, and winners were selected through first and second-round evaluation sessions. Gyeonggi Province submitted 48 pieces, of which a total of 28 pieces received awards: 2 awards from presidents of sponsoring organizations including the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 5 third-place awards, 11 special awards, and 10 participation Awards. The evaluation criteria for the group section are the number of winners and levels of the awards.
